What is Local Injectables?
Local Injectables is one of the most popular non surgical treatment all around the world. It helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles by paralyzing the underlying facial muscle.
There are two types of wrinkles Static and dynamic. Static wrinkles are those which are present even at rest whereas dynamic wrinkles are those which appear on animation. Local Injectables is most effective on dynamic wrinkles
It helps to smoothen the frown lines , between the eyebrows and eases the tired unhappy look. It can be used off label for other areas such as forehead wrinkles, crows feet near the eyes and for lines around the lips –marionette lines.

It is done as an office procedure. The area is usually numbed with a local ansthetic cream (30 minutes)or cold pack 10-15minutes prior to the procedure. After removing the numbing cream the doctor marks the areas to be injected. The injection takes about 10-15minutes depending upon the number of sites.
Some discomfort may be felt while the injections are being given. After the procedure cold packs can be given to help reduce any pain or swelling.
Sometimes there may be pain at the site of injection, swelling or redness. Dry mouth, headache have been reported. Very rarely there may be droopy eyelids, numbness or muscle spasms.
How long do the results last?
Usually the results last for a period of 4-6months. It also depends upon the age of the patients, facial expressions and smoking habits etc. repeat injections after this period will help to maintain the results.
